Bono has a way with words and an editorial in yesterday's New York Times was no exception. He wrote about some of the recent global conferences and the lack of substantial progress that emerged from them.
It's another big UN week in New York and another gathering of political and development leaders, but will this week matter in the grand scheme of things? Will anything meaningful be accomplished? Millennium Development Goals. Most importantly, has anything meaningful and long-lasting been accomplished since the Millennium Development Goals were set in 2000?
Bono and many leaders argue yes - progress has been made, even though the state of the world is drastically different than it was 10 years ago. But, we need more transparency, more accountability and new and better ideas to make the kind of impact we need to make in vulnerable communities around the world.
